A basic task in sentiment analysis is classifying the polarity of a given text at the document, sentence, or feature/aspect level—whether the expressed opinion in a document, a sentence or an entity feature (Turney, 2002)

Three main categories: knowledge-based techniques, statistical methods, and hybrid approaches

Stroke Survivors on Twitter: Sentiment and Topic Analysis From a Gender Perspective

Sentiment analysis based on National Research Council R package. The emotion scores for men and women were first subjected to an F-test and then to a Wilcoxon rank sum test.

Study found out that women express positive emotions and happiness much more than men.
